ABOUT FOUNDER AND YOUR CONSULTANT

Michelle Wium, Founder Water Check.jpeg

Clean, safe water is not a luxury—it is an absolute operational and biological necessity.

Yet for most South African homeowners, estate managers, food producers, and agricultural operations, standard laboratory reports look like unreadable walls of numbers and chemical abbreviations.

Commercial laboratories are structured for high-volume corporate contracts, frequently lacking the capacity to prioritize individual private clients or deliver accessible, friendly, and timeous feedback.

Water Check was founded to bridge this critical gap between complex laboratory data and actionable water management. The business was built on a simple conviction: every client—from a single household testing a domestic tap to large-scale commercial operations—deserves dedicated, high-touch customer support and clear, actionable insights.

Extensive Laboratory & Regulatory Experience

Before founding Water Check, Michelle Wium served as a Laboratory Manager for almost a decade, and official ISO/IEC 17025 Technical Signatory for premier commercial testing facilities across Johannesburg and Cape Town.

In this capacity, she validated, authorised, and interpreted complex analytical data across 32 distinct microbiological and chemical testing methods, operating strictly within ISO17025:2017.

Having personally overseen the analysis of thousands of diverse water matrices—including deep borehole groundwater, municipal distribution networks, agricultural irrigation feeds, food processing facilities, and complex industrial effluent—she applies rigorous technical scrutiny to every sample processed.

Why Independent Advisory Matters

"When water testing is tied to selling water filters, the recommendation is almost always to buy a filter. At Water Check, we sell diagnostics, objective interpretation, and customised treatment solutions—never hardware.

You receive honest, uncompromised clarity on whether your water complies with the SANS 241 standard, accompanied by precise technical guidance if remediation is genuinely necessary"
